Do you have gardening, preserving, berry-picking, fishing, hunting, or traditional food knowledge to share? We’d love to learn from you.
Bring the Family
The garden is a welcoming place for all ages. Youth participation helps build skills, confidence and connection to the land.
What Happens to the Harvest?
Once produce is available, the first priority will be to distribute 25-30% of harvest to Elders through an Elder Delivery Program.
The second priority will be to reserve 25-30% for the Fall Harvest Feast, community gatherings, cooking demonstrations, youth and family workshops and cultural events.
The third priority will be to distribute 30-40% to NSMA members through scheduled harvest pick-up days, community produce tables and family produce boxes.
The fourth priority will be to reserve 10-15% for freezing, canning, drying and seed saving.
Harvest Schedule
Weekly during peak season
Measuring Success
We will be tracking:
pounds of produce harvested,
number of households served,
number of Elders receiving produce,
number of community events supplied,
volunteer participation,
youth involvement,
amount preserved for winter use.
Long-Term Vision
The community garden is more than a source of food – it is a community hub that strengthens food sovereignty, climate resilience, intergenerational knowledge sharing, and connection among NSMA members and families.
