Frequently Asked Questions

How do I become a member?

Membership to NSMA, is gained through careful screening of all Métis applications using the Powley Test criteria as adjudicated (2003) by the Supreme Court of Canada (SCC) and contained within the NSMA Application Form. The NSMA’s rights bearing Métis membership and led by long time President William A. Enge, in settlement of outstanding reconciliation with the Crown, has provided Canada and the Government of the NWT (GNWT), it’s “Statement of Claim” for a “land claim process” and this claim is presently “under review” by these Governments.

How do I get more involved in these programs?

If you see something that interests you, contact lands@nsma.net for more information. We are always looking to get members more involved in any of our activities and events.

What if I have an idea that isn’t listed?

The Environment Team is here to work with members on all issues and concerns related to the environment. For example, if you are concerned about fish health, which we currently don’t have any projects related to, then we can take the steps to begin investigating those topics and concerns. Reach out to our team!
