Invitation to join ceremony at former location of Akaitcho Hall, Oct 1st, 2026

A message from the NWT Art Centre Initiative

Please join us on October 1st, 1-3pm at the former location of Akaitcho Hall (empty lot next to Sir John school) to bless the Land, gather in community, and start the work towards a new art gallery on the site. 

The ceremony and program will happen from 1-2pm and attendees are welcome to stay to visit, view photos, and participate in an art making activity from 2-3pm.

This will be an outdoor event, so please dress appropriately for the weather. There will be tents available on site to warm up, if needed. Note that there is no parking available on site.

On site wellness support will be provided by Dene Wellness Warriors.
