Hi everyone,

We would like to invite you to attend an upcoming community engagement meeting with Rick Schryer of Fortune Minerals regarding the NICO Mine Project. Dinner and honoraria are provided – there will also be great prizes!!

Background

Fortune Minerals is currently seeking renewal of its Type A Water License for the proposed NICO Cobalt-Gold-Bismuth-Copper Project, located approximately 50 km northeast of Whatì and in the middle of NSMA traditional territory. As part of this process, the Wek’èezhìı Land and Water Board (WLWB) is conducting a review of the application, which includes consideration of potential environmental and socio-economic impacts. This review also considers the interests of Indigenous peoples, including relationships to the land, as well as impacts on culture, traditions, health, and ways of life.
