Overview
The Government of the Northwest Territories is seeking public feedback on proposed changes to the Student Record Regulations under the Education Act.(External link)
These proposed regulatory changes are required to support the coming into force of Bill 81, An Act to Amend the Education Act, No. 2, and to make general improvements to how student programming decisions are administered.
The proposed amendments are intended to modernize regulatory requirements, clarify processes, and ensure consistency with recent amendments to the Education Act.
The proposed amendments would establish a formal process for obtaining parental consent for modifications to a student’s school program, as required under new provisions of the Education Act.
Have Your Say
Review the proposed regulations and share your feedback. Send your feedback to educationoperations@gov.nt.ca(External link) by July 15, 2026.

The proposed changes are intended to come into force in August 2026, ahead of the 2026–2027 school year.
